Sample Intake Form

Please follow the steps below before sending samples to our research facility:

  1. Follow this link to our intake spreadsheet.

  2. If necessary, log in with your Google account.

  3. Select "Make a copy" when prompted.

  4. Fill in the appropriate number of cells according to the number of samples you will be sending.

    • Note: Refer to the package descriptions below when selecting which add on analyses are desired​​ for each sampleThe basic chemistry analysis package is automatically included for each sample.

  5. After filling a row for each of your samples, click File > Download > Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)​.

    • Note: Your computer will download this file and place it in your Downloads folder.

  6. Rename the downloaded file to the name of the plant and the current date (MM/DD/YYYY).

    • e.g. MyPlant​​08112022.xlsx

  7. Send an email to verde.sample.intake@gmail.com and attach the renamed file.

Listed below is a description of the packages available for each sample:

 

Chemical analysis 

Includes total solids, volatile solids, total nitrogen, total phosphorous, alkalinity, chemical oxygen demand, oxidation-reduction potential, and pH.  

 

VFA speciation 

Includes concentrations for short chain volatile fatty acids measured via GC-FID. Volatile fatty acids quantified include acetic acid, propanoic acid, iso-butyric acid, butyric acid, iso-valeric acid, and valeric acid. 

 

Microbial composition 

Includes the relative abundance of bacteria and archaea species through 16s rRNA sequencing on a MiSeq platform. Also includes the absolute concentration of general bacteria and archaea will also be measured via qPCR. 

 

Metals analysis 

Includes dissolved ICP Analysis- Al, As, B, Ba, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, P, Pb, S, Se, Si, Sr, Ti, V, and Zn
